Dr. Anubhav Harish Khandelwal is the Director of Interventional Radiology at Medanta – The Medicity, Gurugram, one of India's premier tertiary care institutions. With over 15 years of progressive clinical and leadership experience, he has established himself as one of the foremost practitioners of minimally invasive, image-guided interventions in the region.
Dr. Khandelwal's clinical expertise spans the full breadth of interventional radiology — from hepato-biliary and vascular interventions to oncological, urological, gynaecological, and head and neck procedures. He performs between 650 and 750 procedures monthly, encompassing both ultrasound- and CT-guided diagnostics and complex DSA-driven endovascular interventions. He leads one of India's most active SIRT/TARE programmes, with participation in over 400 Y-90 radioembolization procedures — the largest single-centre experience in the country.
A particular area of distinction is his leadership of the Thyroid Ablation Programme at Medanta, developed following advanced training as an International Visiting Scholar at Asan Medical Centre in Seoul, South Korea — a global reference centre for thermal ablation. He also underwent specialised training in Transarterial Chemoembolization at Seoul National University Hospital. These experiences have shaped a practice philosophy deeply aligned with the Asia Pacific tradition of precision, innovation, and evidence-based minimally invasive care.
Dr. Khandelwal is an active contributor to the academic and research community. He is the author of the Atlas of Human Anatomy on CT Imaging (Jaypee Medical Publishers, 2010) and has contributed a chapter on Interventional Radiology in Liver Transplantation to a national textbook. His peer-reviewed publications include contributions to journals such as the Indian Journal of Radiology and Imaging, Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hepatology, and the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, covering topics ranging from HCC ablation and SIRT outcomes to portal hypertension and parathyroid ablation.
He holds memberships in several leading professional bodies, including the Society of Interventional Radiology (USA), the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE), the Asia Pacific Society of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology (APSCVIR), and the Indian Society of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (ISVIR).
Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Khandelwal is committed to education and mentorship, supervising interventional radiology fellows and residents at Medanta and actively participating in national and international academic conferences.
Dr. Khandelwal's work exemplifies the convergence of technical excellence, academic rigour, and collaborative spirit that defines contemporary interventional radiology across the Asia Pacific region.
