I am a cardiovascular and interventional physician specializing in musculoskeletal interventional radiology (MSK-IVR) and transcatheter arterial microembolization (TAME) for chronic musculoskeletal pain. I currently serve as Director of Fukuoka Pain Care Clinic in Fukuoka, Japan, and also provide vascular-based pain interventions at Nagasaki Heart Clinic, performing both catheter-based embolization and targeted arterial injection therapies.
For two years, I trained under Yuji Okuno, a global pioneer in MSK embolization therapy. This experience significantly shaped my clinical approach and reinforced my commitment to advancing evidence-based microvascular pain treatment.
My current work focuses on the development and expansion of MSK-IVR in the Kyushu region through clinical practice, education, research, and international collaboration.
My clinical and academic interests center on the pathophysiology of abnormal inflammatory neovessels (“moyamoya vessels”) associated with refractory musculoskeletal pain. I treat a wide range of conditions including adhesive capsulitis, knee osteoarthritis, patellar tendinopathy, lateral epicondylitis, groin pain, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, and other lower-extremity overuse disorders.
I have co-authored several publications on MSK-IVR and embolization therapy, including studies on chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS), plantar fasciitis, and patellar tendinopathy. My academic interests include optimization of embolic agents such as imipenem/cilastatin and Nexsphere, evaluation of long-term outcomes, and promotion of MSK-IVR through research and education.
