I am a cardiovascular and interventional physician specializing in musculoskeletal interventional radiology (MSK-IVR) and transcatheter arterial microembolization (TAME) for chronic pain. I currently serve as the Director of Fukuoka Pain Care Clinic in Fukuoka, Japan, and I provide the same vascular-based pain treatment program at Nagasaki Heart Clinic, performing both catheter-based embolization and targeted arterial injection therapy.
For two years, I trained under Dr. Yuji Okuno, a global pioneer and leading authority in MSK embolization therapy. This experience significantly shaped my clinical approach and strengthened my commitment to advancing evidence-based microvascular pain treatment. I am now actively working to develop and expand MSK-IVR in the Kyushu region of Japan, providing clinical care, disseminating knowledge, and building regional and international collaborations.
My clinical and academic focus is the pathophysiology of abnormal inflammatory neovessels (“moyamoya vessels”), which contribute to refractory musculoskeletal pain. I treat conditions including shoulder capsulitis, knee osteoarthritis, patellar tendinopathy, lateral epicondylitis, groin pain, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, and other lower-extremity overuse disorders.
I have contributed as a co-author to several MSK-IVR publications involving embolization therapy for chronic prostatitis/CPPS, plantar fasciitis, and patellar tendinopathy. My academic interests include optimizing embolic agents such as imipenem/cilastatin and Nexphere, evaluating long-term outcomes, and promoting MSK-IVR through research, education, and international collaboration.
